Worth 100 points

1. Compare/contrast two views of America. One will be your novel (could focus on a particular character) and one will be a poem we’ve read this quarter. Remember that when you quote poetry, it should look like this: “When company comes,/But I laugh,/And eat well,/And grow strong”(4-7). The / signifies a change in the line of the poem and the numbers in parenthesis tell us the line numbers you’re quoting.
2. What is the voice of your group’s novel? *Remember that sometimes the voice can change over the course of a novel (exp: starts off as the voice of the ignorant and uneducated in America and becomes the voice of America’s regret for the past).
3. Each character in the books you’ve selected struggle to overcome something. Write an essay in which you identify and analyze one or two challenges the character(s) overcome in the book. Think about what prompts them to want to overcome the challenge, why it’s so difficult, and how they ultimately (if they do) overcome it.

*You may choose to create a prompt (see notebook), but I must approve it.
*I would like all essays to be double-spaced, use MLA format, and provide page numbers for all quotes.

Come see me if you need any help.
Good luck! We’re all counting on ya!
